This blog post won't have any pictures in lolita sorry!
In October, I finally went to visit my grand parents in Bretagne (North West of France)
I was supposed to arrive on Tuesday night, but my train got delayed and I had to spend the night in Paris. Luckily for me, a friend was also riding the same train, which was unexpected, and we spent the evening together! I will take this time to recommend Gyoza Hohei in Paris, I think it became my favorite restaurant there!
I finally arrived on Wednesday afternoon, and took the time to quickly visit Auray, and my grand parent's future house which is still under construction. Auray has a very pretty downtown, with some cute buildings. It's quite old, but I was very happy to see that it was still really active, which is sadly not the case of many rural cities in France...
On Thursday, we went to visit le Bono. It has a lovely port, which I really loved, and a nice wooden bridge that goes over it. Sadly, the town seemed pretty dead, and I suspect that it's only active in the summer when tourists come to visit.
I also visited Auray's basilic and noticed that they had miniature boats inside! So cute!
On Friday, I went to Auray's port : Saint Goustan. It's a bit bigger than le Bono, but still pretty small as it is a river port. The port area was lovely, and I wish I had the time to eat a crepe to enjoy the view, but I had to go back as my grand parents had other plans for the day.
We left for Quiberon, and arrived right on time for lunch! We stopped at a restaurant on the ocean front, I chose a galette with sausage which was really good, and a chocolate crepe for desert.
On the beach, a lot of algae and dead jellyfishes were laying around and I was quite relieved that the weather wasn't good enough to tempt me to swim.
We also wanted to visit a pretty well known canning factory : la Belle-iloise which specializes in canned sardine. The visit was really interesting as we got to see the people working and the different kind of machines and savoir-faire needed. They also had archives showing how they used to do it in 1935 and I always love to see how different yet similar things were. I find that there is something really comforting when realizing that we are not that different from the ones that were before us.
On Saturday, my grandmother really wanted to show me the coastal road of la Trinité-sur-mer, a small trail which runs alongside the cost. I love being around the ocean, so I was really happy to be there, the view was gorgeous and we got to la Trinité-sur-mer's port which is packed with sailboats. As we left my grandfather behind, we sadly hadn't much time to visit, so we quickly turned around to get back to him.
He also wanted to visit the beach of Carnac, as he often went there as a kid. It apparently changed quite a lot since then, but he was still moved when he recognized the emplacement of the hotel he used to go to.
So yeah! That concludes my Bretagne stay! I really enjoyed visiting the region, and I can't wait to come back and maybe meet with the lolita comm again!
