Ghibli at the Museum of printing

Last sunday, I went with Lucie and Camille to the Musée de l'Imprimerie to visit the Ghibli themed exhibition. There were actually quite a lot of people, and the museum was a bit too crowded for my liking but I still really appreciated it.

It was centered around Ghibli's movies, and showed both what inspired them, and what they inspired in turn. I really liked how it was set up, with some choosen scenes from each movie and some related works. I guess I recommend it even tho it's not purely Ghibli centered.

We also visited the rest of the museum, which is centered around the evolution of printing techniques and has a ton of archives, from very old books to old advertising. We even spotted books and objects from our childhoods, which is always fun!

The weather was very bad, especially compared to how warm it was at the beginning of April, so we waited in the museum for the sun to come back and hurried to a place where we could eat. I was really craving chocolate, so we first decided to go to Ikone, but as usual the place was crowded and we didn't expect to have a tabler before closing time, so we went to another café called Pimprenelle. We've been there once before, for a large meet, and I barely remembered it so I was happy to try it again. I had a hot cocoa and a chocolate lava cake, both were really good. Camille and Lucie had a speculoos (biscoff?) cheesecake and a caramel/peanut tiramisu, but I forgot to ask them if it was good.... I just thought they were a bit smaller than I expected for the price.

As the sun came back again, we decided to go to the Hotel dieu (an old hospital turned shopping center) to take Instax pictures. Camille also suggested we take group pictures, and I love the results! It was just really fun.

As I'm still doing my rainbow challenge, and I am still in the reds, I decided to wear my little red riding hood appliqué again. You can't see it cause I kept my capelet the whole day, but I think I made the straps a little too long for it to fit me perfectly. I'll have to adjust that.... I paired it with the blouse the vendor sent with it, my handmade cherry capelet, my lovely Metamorphose socks and simple red shoes. I wanted something a bit simpler than last time but got more random comments.... What I found particularly annoying were the Little Red Riding hoods related comments such as "Beware of the wolf! Where is your Grandma? "and such because.... Well... that was the theme of my coord so I could see where they were coming from.....

Anyways! This exhibit was a very nice way to pass a cold and rainy day, and if you're near Lyon, I would recommend it!

My goals for lolita fashion

Last year, I made a video about my wardrobe and my goals for the fashion and thought it could be fun to go over these.

These are the items I really wanted :

Dresses :

  • Little Red Riding Hood appliqué JSK or OP by Baby the stars shine bright
  • Sweet Jam JSK in any color by Angelic Pretty
  • Strawberry Velveteen skirt or OP by Metamorphose

Other Items :

  • Tatting Lace bracelet by Frivoliclem
  • Rotin bonnet by Majoly
  • More red items
  • Getting more cardigans (pink and white), socks (pink) and blouses (black and pink)

I'm really happy to report that I got two of the three dresses I really wanted : sweet jam by Angelic Pretty and the Little red riding hood applique by Baby. I still have to find the gorgeous strawberry velveteen OP by Metamorphose. If you ever see it please let me know!

Regarding the other items I wanted, my sister made me one of her tatting lace bracelet, and I love wearing it during summer time! It is the perfect amount of detail while still being nice and breezy. You can find more of her work on my Etsy and her Instagram

I'm also currently waiting for my bonnet by Majoly! I'm really excited to receive it and really hope to be able to wear it this summer.

This year, I added quite a bit of red to my wardrobe! I have of course my Sweet Jam JSK and Little Red Riding Hood Appliqué, but I also handmade a bustle back skirt and my friend Lucie gifted me the amazing Cameron headbow by Baby in RedxWhite. I guess adding a red bag and some red socks would be nice, but this is really secondary for now.

I also got a white cardigan that I use quite often, some pink socks and more blouses but only in white...

This is what I want now :

  • Sweet jam JSK in yellow
  • Strawberry Velveteen OP or Skirt
  • Other Appliqués dresses from Baby
  • French Café Chest Ribbon in pink
  • Pink blouse (long and short sleeves)
  • Black blouse (long sleeves)
  • Black Cardigan
  • Pink Cardigan
  • Wear more lolita in winter
  • Rework my old sewing projects

So yeah, that's pretty much it! This blog post probably wasn't all that interesting for you, but I love looking back on wishlist and goals.

Meet at Midori Café

Last Sunday I met up with Lucie and Camille for brunch and a mini Meet. Lucie had just finished her apron and we'd decided to make it the theme of our reunion, but unfortunately Camille couldn't finish hers despite her best efforts.

I'm also challenging myself to wear my whole wardrobe in the rainbow order, and I'm currently in the reds. I decided to go with my sweet jam and pink apron and thought it would make for a good transition into pinks but forgot I still have another red skirt to wear before that 🙃

We'd planned to go to a ceramic café, but contrary to what we'd seen on their website we actually had to book and got thrown out 😔

Luckily, Camille had heard of a nice café further up Croix-Rousse with a matcha theme: the Midori. The service was long, but the staff very friendly.

I ordered a bagel with cheesy scrambled eggs, a matchamisu, vanilla basque cheesecake, a strawberry matcha latte and a matcha lemonade.

Lucie and I loved the matchamisu, probably the best I've ever had! Camille loved the matcha lemonade and the Basque cheesecake, also with matcha.

                                                                                    Everything was so green!

On the way out we went for a walk and took lots of photos all over the place. I was happy to be able to visit this neighborhood, as I never go to this part of the city. I have to say that "les pentes" are actually really pretty, and as there are a TON of cafés there, I'll have plenty of other occasions to visit!

This is it for today! Thank you for reading!
