A day at the MAC

 Hi there!

This past Sunday, the sun finally made an appearance after a full month of of rain! (but it started raining AGAIN!) The weather was quite warm especially after those cold days so Lucie and I decided to go picnic in a park (sadly Camille couldn't join us this time around). We wanted to sit near peonies as they are blooming but couldn't find any nice spot so we went back to our usual. I love this spot : they are trees all around so you can sit in the shadows, the grass is soft, and there is water nearby to cool you off. As an added bonus, ducks often come near you to ask for food (I always give them veggies only) We had a platter of cheese and charcuterie with bread, strawberry flavored wine and some raspberry juice. Lucie also brought a watermelon but we were so full already and ended up not eating it.

After that, we decided to go visit the modern art museum nearby. This museum is always a bit on the weirder side, we often are very confused by the art pieces and this was definitely the case today.

The first floor was fully dedicated to Sylvie Selig, where the museum showed off a huge painting recently acquired. This was definitely impressive even if I kind of hated it. The art style was not to my style, which is okay, but what annoyed me the most were the obnoxious reference to other artists, and it felt a little bit as if modern art was throwing up in my face. I have a very conflicted relationship with modern art and this painting was exactly what I don't like. Other works of the same artist were also displayed which were better suited to my taste and the big painting was still impressive so I guess it was okay in the end.

The second floor hosted the art collection of Antoine de Galbert. This guy is the heir of the PDG of Carrefour, a huge supermarket chain present all over Europe. It felt a bit weird seeing some pieces about police brutality, protesting against far right and protecting Palestinian grounds in the collection of some rich guy, but I can't really say I know much about his political views. Some of the pieces really resonated with me, others were a bit too weird for my tastes, but they were all quite unique!

Damien Deroubaix - Control
Those sharks represented police brutality

Gelitin, Operation Rose
This was a gory plush hospital

Kent Monkman, The Collapsing of the Time
and Space in an Ever-Expending Universe
I loved this installation! You can enter it to see
another perspective

Mari Katayama, Shell
My favorite piece of the whole collection

We didn't have the time to visit the third floor even though the theme really spoke to me (best friends, best ennemies) so I really want to go back.
As we were walking, it started raining so we rushed to the subway after taking a few pictures and called it a day.

My coord for the day was quite simple : I'm still trying to wear all my wardrobe in the rainbow order, but honestly, I find it a bit boring.... This is a skirt I made with some fabric I bought in japan, but I don't really like how scrunched it is in the back (I accidently made it larger than needed and am too lazy to fix it at the moment). It also give the impression that the bustle back is longer which is not the case... This is a problem for future me!

This little bridge was the cutest!

I also made a heart tie and half bonnet to match

Thank you for reading, and I'll see you soon!
